ur heroes do not come to us from another world, with "powers and abilities beyond those of mortal men".
They were born here. Among us. Men & Women like you and I. Made of flesh & blood... |

C'mon & gimme a "V"! "V" as in
Nike - the goddess of Victory."V" also stands for Volunteer and in this instance brings us right back to Vicki; she is the gift that keeps on giving. During this season of giving it is appropriate to
take a page or two from the local Author, whose library of successful titles seem to turn on examples of philanthropy from ancient times 'til now. |
"The season is upon us now the time for gifts and giving as the year draws to its close, I think about my
living..." |
"A savior king was born that day baby just like you as the wise men came with gifts I've come with my gift
too..." |
Self-deprecating & modest, Vicki describes herself as an Author, Editor & Researcher with a "calamitous career arc"
spanning everything "from cigarette shill to rock-n-roll grunt." The truth is
that path prepared her well to write about the common folks; "working stiffs from long-ago with compassion and understanding." |

Did you know the tab for the original ancient Olympiads
was picked up and shared by the judges? It was not viewed as a profit center. There were no corporate sponsors or franchises. As a matter of fact; there were no 2nd or 3rd place "winners" either... Just one crown of
laurels per champion. |
Something else you should know: she is not one to rest on her own laurel leaves. |
At the risk of costing her one of the jewels in her own crown, I tell you she has gone all the long way 'round the world in
her volunteer efforts of education and assistance to children who need it most. It is the Volunteer who exalts others before themself. One who gives up their third square meal of the
day so another might not starve. Who sets aside their bar tab allowance so another might not thirst. If we just parse the vernacular of that lesser, modern Nike: "Just do it." We all could do far
worse.-- Sir Edmund Dantes |
