	*AUREL! (just Laurel)*

		*When most people think of smoke stacks and Morro Bay, they might picture the three old PG & E stacks of Duke Energy. But there is a fourth!* *Her name is Laurel. Just Laurel. She puffs through several packs of Camels a day, (she doesn't inhale) as she methodically works her green thumbs along Front St.* *You may have enjoyed her handiwork without realizing it - ever notice the brilliant planters that defy gravity along the harbor sea walls?*

		Or the lovingly manicured gardens in the traffic islands of the Embarcadero? But her masterpiece is the ramshackle wonder that sprawls upward, outward and every other direction from the corner of Beach & Front St.

Somewhere Art Beal, Cambria's Der Tinkerpaw of Nit Wit Ridge is smiling down in approval...

You may have enjoyed her handiwork without realizing it!


	*Possessed of the same creative force behind larger, more famous structures like San Jose's* *Winchester Mystery House* *or Cambria's* *Nit Wit Ridge*, Laurel's garden of statuary, stone and shell collections, carvings, whirligigs, bottles, floats & flags is never finished - in fact she has started over many times and time again.

Ever notice the brilliant planters that defy gravity along the harbor sea walls?

Or the lovingly manicured gardens in the traffic islands of the Embarcadero?

Patience is her virtue. This gentle and mysterious lady has all the time in the world... and has been all the way round it as well. When I commented on the giant Tiki on the patio, she recalled between puffs her time with Earth Watch on Easter Island. "Now Thor Heyerdahl - he was a great dancer!

But her pride and joy is His Majesty Lord Jimmy Shine, unbelievably the runt of the litter and rescued by Laurel to the eternal joy of both of them. The namesake of her late husband, he is the keeper of the gate.
