For a guy who wasn't sure what he wanted to do in life, Garry Johnson seems to have brought it all into focus.
Capping a career with more than a million miles logged in his frequent flyer account, his science was
metallurgy; more specifically; a photo- graphic
expertise in docu- menting failures in arcane alloys &
experimental craft. He authored a book on it, won an award for it, and then harnessed Star Wars technology to document it.But you're probably more familiar with his nature photos and volunteer work. Garry Johnson wears a lot of different hats. |

I'm reminded of Walter Mitty, except all of this is legit: San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden's
official Photographer, member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary
, Morro Bay Beautiful, Docent for the Museum of Natural History, Judge for the Morro Bay Art Association's annual juried show,
Cayucos Art Association, Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce, Central Coast
Scottish Society and of course Garrison Photography. But we're still missing a few, I'm sure. If we spend some
time in the wine cellar, maybe the Claret will clarify his definition of retirement...yeah, right, sure, uh-huh. |

Just about a decade ago, Garry traded in his darkroom and electron microscopes for a computer room and printer bank to process
all his megapixels. These days his art captures the miracles of nature all around us. He even authored a book on it.-- Sir Edmund Dantes |
