Easily the most colorful shop in Morro Bay, Shaun Farmer's Kites & Surreys packs enuff cool stuff into it's
anchor spot at the corner of Beach & Front Streets to light up both our Adventure & Romance buttons.Brilliantly filled to its rafters -- actually walking into the shop is more akin to
entering a magic wardrobe as you are surrounded on all sides by the iridescent rainbow fabrics of every conceivable type of flag, banner, kite or whirly-gig. If it flys, floats, flutters or
spins -- it's a good bet Shaun has it in stock. |

His is a real "local boy makes good -- and has too much fun" type story. Shaun has lived in the area his entire life. The shop itself
has been around for more than 30 years. He worked for the original owner while still in high school. And he himself has owned and run it for the past 10 years. That's one big ball of string, (continuity) if
ya' know what I mean. |

Let's go fly a kite Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite And send it soaring Up through the atmosphere Up where the air is clear Oh, let's go fly a kite!
When you send it flying up there,
all at once your lighter than air! You can dance on the breeze, over 'ouses and trees! With your fist 'olding tight, to the string your kite!
|
|
Something you might not know but will certainly come to appreciate in the future -- that Shaun is the real wind
beneath the wings of the Morro Bay Kite Festival
; not only underwriting many of the expenses, providing the supplies but organizing the main events and demonstrations as well.
